I am Rodrigo Deamo, a physiotherapist with a doctorate in neurology and a certificate in medical expertise from the University of Montreal. I work as an independent expert in medico-legal matters, outside of the CNESST (Quebec's workplace health and safety commission), preparing expert and counter-expert reports for courts, public bodies, and private insurers.
With over 20 years of experience as a clinician and researcher, I have completed two postdoctoral fellowships, as well as advanced training in chronic pain management.
Since 2014, I have led an interdisciplinary team specializing in chronic pain within the public health network, at the Regional Pain Clinic of the CISSS de l’Abitibi-Témiscamingue. I also regularly contribute to training, scientific dissemination, and knowledge transfer activities on chronic pain at the national level.
Since 2022, I have been conducting structured medico-legal counter-report, particularly in cases involving the CNESST, SAAQ, IVAC, and the private insurance sector. I also have experience serving as an expert witness before the Administrative Labour Tribunal (TAT).
My report is based on a rigorous and methodical analysis, integrating clinical, scientific, and functional data, in strict compliance with the medico-legal framework.
I fully adhere to the fundamental role of the expert, which is to inform decision-makers in an objective, independent, and non-partisan manner.
My professional activities primarily cover the following areas:
I provide expert assessments of chronic pain, including the analysis of pain mechanisms, the evaluation of functional limitations, and the examination of their clinical consistency within a medico-legal context. These analyses are based on current scientific data and recognized healthcare standards.
I conduct musculoskeletal assessments focusing on functional impairments, the evaluation of residual capacity, and the analysis of alleged sequelae, particularly in cases involving compensation, insurance, or liability issues.
I also act as an expert advisor in complex chronic pain cases, both in rehabilitation and litigation contexts. My role is to inform decision-makers—courts, public bodies, or insurers—about the relevant clinical, scientific, and functional issues.
All of these interventions are carried out within a strictly independent framework, in accordance with professional standards and the specific requirements of medico-legal mandates, guaranteeing an objective, rigorous, and non-partisan approach.
